Transparency In Your Study Hour

Following my posting on The Cycle Of Pain, i have been thinking on what else can be done to ensure that children and dependants are protected. In this article i share my thoughts on writing and studying in the night. This will be a very polite advice to married creatives/students, including those that are co-habiting.

Studying and writing needs concentration and the right atmosphere. Others do it during the day at the library or a cafe while others do it at night. If you are like me, you probably wake up to study or write from the living room in the early hours of the day. This time is usually very quiet with little chance of disturbances from texts and phone calls. It is also the time when your study or writing exercise is the most effective.

So my thought on waking up for studies and writing is that you should always let your partner know when leaving the bedroom. They might want to surprise you with coffee out of love and support…you never know. I know you want your partner to have enough sleep and rest. Waking them up feels like you are disturbing them, so you want to be as quiet as possible when leaving the bedroom. Now imagine trying to be as quiet as possible as you tiptoe your way to the living room only for your partner to show up at the exact moment you are passing the door to your dependants’ room. Awkward, right? Your partner may not say anything but imagine the embarrassment. What is going through your partner’s mind?

Do not put yourself in a position where you have to answer funny questions in your mind. Inform your partner as you wake up to study. Enjoy the wonderful coffee they surprise you with.
